Located at the North end of Victorville, close to Highway 395, the former George Air Force Base was
decommissioned in December 1992. Following environmental cleanup it reopened in October 1994 as
the Southern California Logistics Airport - SCLA.
In July 2000 SCLA was designated as a Foreign Trade Zone by the Department of Commerce. SCLA is a
designated U.S. Customs Port of Entry.
Today SCLA is a world class international and domestic air cargo facility featuring two 15,000 foot runways
suitable for international traffic all year round. The integration of ground, air and rail transportation
provides rapid shipment of cargo both domestically and worldwide. Both commercial and military aircraft
are served at SCLA.
A further almost 4000 acres are devoted to rail facilities, these are serviced by the Union Pacific and
Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroads. Work is currently underway to connect SCLA to the Port of Los
Angeles by rail.
SCLA also includes a 5000 acre industrial complex including aviation, office, storage and manufacturning
facilities. Over 100 companies have facilities here including such names as GE, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing,
Walmart, Goodyear and Nestle. SCLA holds the promise of tens of thousands of new jobs in the coming years.
